泵体采用特殊形状，使其具有自吸功能。启动泵时，泵内必须充满部分液体；叶轮的作用会产生低压，吸入管中的空气并与旋转的液体混合。空气和水的混合物在泵体外部被叶轮离心分离，水与空气分离后返回循环系统；空气则被排入输送管。吸入阀可防止泵在首次注水和停止时排空。启动时间取决于吸入管路的尺寸。启动后，泵的工作原理与普通离心泵相同。如果吸入空气，泵能够自动重新启动。

The body has a particular shape that makes the pump self-priming. When starting the pump must be partially filled with the liquid; the action of the impeller then creates a depression which sucks air from the suction pipe and mixes with the rotating liquid. The mixture of air and water is centrifuged by the impeller in the outer part of the casing where the water is separated from the air and come back into circulation while the air is expelled into the delivery pipe. The intake check valve prevents the emptying of the pump during the first filling and during the pump stops. The time of priming depends on the size of the suction line.
After the complete priming the pump works as a centrifugal pump. In case of air coming from suction line, pump is able to re-prime itself.
