　　ACIMs can vary in size and power with some larger motors requiring rigid foundations as shown in Figure 3. A typical application is industrial pumps where power is transferred from the shaft to the pump via a direct connection or some coupling element. Misalignment of these connections can be radial, axial, or tangential. To maintain stable alignment, vibrations must be minimized by securing the pump to a solid foundation. A stable, rigid foundation with uniform stiffness can improve reliability by reducing vibrations, effectively extending the lifetime of a motor.
