储油柜油面上部的空气由一通气管道与外部大气相通。通气管道中放置干燥剂，以减少空气中的水分进入储油柜中。储油柜的底部设有沉积器，以沉聚侵入储油柜的水分和污物，定期加以排除。在储油柜的一端还装有油位表以观测油面的高低，当由于渗漏等原因造成油量不足时，应及时注油加以补充。
