　　The Model 4409 Safety Manager Module (SMM) acts as an interface between the Tricon controller and the Honeywell Universal Control Network (UCN), one of the three main networks for the TDC-3000 distributed control system. In Honeywell systems, the SMM acts as a secure node on the UCN, communicating process information at a full network data rate for use anywhere on the TDC-3000. SMM transfers Tricon alias data, including system variables, and diagnostic information to operator workstations in a display format familiar to Honeywell operators.

TRN votes and diagnoses all digital inputs and outputs from the field through a hardware voting mechanism, while analog inputs are processed with a median value. TRN can operate in harsh industrial environments, can be installed and serviced online at the module level, and supports up to 118 I/O modules (analog and digital) and optional communication modules.
